Scar-free skin, for most men and women, provides them with that that extra boost of confidence in life. What would you be ready to give for a scar-free skin? Acne scars have a devastating consequence on the physical and psychological capacity of a person. Many of us, in our adolescence, may have combated with a bad case of acne; it is one of those miserable and difficult personal trials most of us confront while growing up. Primarily, we had to contend with the scarlet zits, and then, we had to suffer from the scarring that is finally left behind. Most of us who had to endure scarring caused by acne eventually grow up with a low sense of self-worth, thinking that our faces are imperfect because of the scars we bear.

Grime and oil can block hair follicles, creating a habitat accommodating to bacteria. The bacteria, in turn, cause skin breakouts (e.g., pimples).

Once we recover from the reddish papules, we have to deal with the scars. Although there are acne scars that disappear as time passes, some scars do not. Living with these scars on our own faces can be a sad experience. The personal relationships of these individuals suffer. Because an individual may be self-conscious about the facial scars, he or she may reject any affection demonstrated by a loved one.

There are four varieties of acne scars. Ice pick scars got their name because they are pit-like marks on the skin's surface. Boxcar scars are commonly located on the temples and the cheeks, and they could look like scars left after a case of varicella (that is, chickenpox). Keloidal and hypertrophic scars are easily identified because of their raised outer membranes. Rolling scars look like shallow hollows on the skin.

Research studies disclosed that having acne scars on the face can largely affect a person's sense of self-worth, and the individual may be more likely to experience depression.

But there is no need to lose hope just yet. There are now several technological developments for the treatment of acne scars. Some of these treatment procedures use a form of laser therapy. Other treatment methods and procedures involve some form of skin abrasion. There are creams and subcutaneous injections available as well. Consult your doctor about the best facial eradication and/or treatment technology that will be viable for you.
