How You Can Get Rid of Acne

By Andreia Alves

Teenagers mostly see acne as another gross part of life. It is inconvenient and can make us embarrassed but we can take comfort in knowing that everyone else at school is dealing with the same thing. As adults we are supposed to have grown out of the frequent breakouts of our puberty years. It is partly because of this belief that so many adults are thrown for a loop when the random zit or pimple makes an appearance on their faces. Nothing makes us feel like kids again more than waking up to find that we're sporting some new spots and bumps. Adult acne is often very painful, which is another reason so many adults dread breaking out. Here are some acne fighting tips that you can use no matter how old you might be.

Are you getting all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need? Believe it or not some people react to malnutrition by breaking out. When you are not healthy, acne can be a symptom of that. The easiest way to deal with this is to take a multi-vitamin every day. Fixing your acne might not be as easy as taking your vitamins, but doing so could help you regain your health. The reason you break out when you are malnutritioned is that your body starts producing more sebum which will clog your pores and make it easier for you to break out (and for bacteria to get in). So make sure that you are eating the right foods and getting enough vitamins and nutrients.

The reason your hair should stay away from your face is that your scalp produces oil which gets transferred to your hair which can then clog your pores if your hair is in your face. If you have long hair that gets in your face or bangs that rest against your forehead for most of the day you could transfer that oil to your pores, which will then get clogged and produce pimples and acne. Sure having long hair is fun, but if you want to fight against acne, keep it off of your face. There are lots of ways to keep your hair off of your face and still be stylish: braids, ponytails, headbands, clips, etc. Your face will thank you!

Keep your hands away from breakouts that do happen. Do not squeeze pimples or pick at zits. You never want to mess with your acne. It is all right to wash your face and treat your breakout with some acne fighting cleanser but never ever pop or pick at your zits. It is true that acne can take a few days to heal properly. What would you rather deal with? A week or so with a breakout or a lifetime with scars from it?

If you do wake up to an acne flare up, do not let yourself pick at your face! Acne needs to be left alone to heal. You never want to mess with your acne. Cleaning your face-even when you are broken out-is perfectly acceptable but keep those fingers off of your acne the rest of the time! When left to heal naturally some breakouts might stick around for a day or two. Which would you prefer to face? A week or so with a breakout or a lifetime with scars from it?

It will take time for acne fighters to really work, so stick with each thing you try for at least a couple of weeks before you give up and go on to something else.
